Hello, I am Emma
I am a project manager, a parent, and an expatriate living in Zurich, Switzerland.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Switzerland wasn't in our long-term plan. Like many relocations for work, it began as a chance to advance professionally and soon grew into something much bigger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Routine tasks felt more complex than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built PrairieVerdantBalm
Most information online was either corporate relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Switzerland.

This site is about:

This site is not:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A sponsored-review platform
- A generic travel blog
